
Mr. Shakeri, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Pakistan met and conferred on Thursday, Oct, 14, 2010 with Mr. Qamar Zaman Kaira, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, on the mechanism for expansion and boosting media ties between the two countries.
The Ambassador, at the outset of the meeting, while referring to the pathetic condition of the flood-affected people in Pakistan, and the efforts of the high-ranking authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran, including the Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, and the honourable President of that country, aimed at urgent dispatch of relief assistance to Pakistan, stressed the national determination and will of our country for continuing assistance especially in the sphere of reconstruction and renovation.
Mr. Shakeri also criticized lack of sufficient attention on the part of the media in Pakistan for giving suitable coverage to the relief assistance donated by the people of Iran, specially the large convey of 150 trucks and 30 railway wagons, to this country and sought greater attention to be paid by the media to this matter.
In conclusion, he also stressed the point that the Islamic Republic of Iran is the only country which has a strong belief in the security and stability of Pakistan, and in this connection, is ready to cooperate in the field on the transfer of energy, electricity, gas, and infrastructural and facilities.
The Pakistani Minister, too, while lauding the efforts and assistance extended by Iran at times of need and crisis to this country, emphasized that common bonds existing between the two countries have provided very conducive grounds for further proximity and cooperation between them.
