H.E. Mr. Alireza Haghighian, Ambassador of our country in Islamabad, today (January 17, 2012) met and conferred with Dr. Firdaus Ashiq Awan Pakistan's Minister for Information and Broadcasting.

In this meeting, H.E. Haghighian, while pointing to the existence of numerous common traits and extensive deep rooted ties between the two neighbouring nations, stressed the need for boosting the level of bilateral relations between Iran and Pakistan in the cultural and artistic sphere, and also on Press and media cooperation. He, while referring to the important status of Allama Iqbal Lahori in the common Persian literature and culture of the two countries, proposed the production of a joint film on the life of Allama Iqbal Lahori. The Ambassador of our country, in this meeting, also laid stress on the need for expansion of cooperation between radio and television organizations of Iran and Pakistan, including exchange of Iranian and Pakistani films and documentaries, and also joint production of artistic and cultural works.

Pakistan's Minister for Information and Broadcasting, in the course of this meeting, while stressing the necessity for expansion and deepening of cultural relations and media cooperation between the two countries, lauded the status of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the important role of the great leader of the Islamic Revolution in bringing about proximity among religions and bolstering the unity of the Islamic Ummah. He, in referring to the very cordial relations between the two countries in all spheres, especially art and media field, announced full readiness of his country to further expand them. Dr. Firdaus Ashiq Awan welcomed the proposal of the Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Iran about production of a joint film on the life of Allama Iqbal Lahori. He, in referring to the existing accords between the two countries, stressed the need for expanding mutual cooperation in Press and media sphere.
