Eighteenth Joint Economic Commission of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan was held on September 7-8, 2011 in Islamabad.
H.E. Dr. Ali Akbar Salehi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and H.E. Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Pakistan's Minister for Economic Affair and Finance, headed their respective delegation.
The talks of the Commission were held within the framework of the following six working groups:
1- Economic , banking and investment committee
2- Industry, Mining and Trade committee
3- Energy Committee
4- Transportation and Communications committee
5- Agriculture, science and technology committee
6- Cultural education tourism and consular committee
At the end of the session, the document on Memorandum of Understanding of the 18th Joint Economic Commission of the two countries, and three other MoUs including the MoU on economic and technical cooperation, the MoU on media cooperation, and the MoU on investment cooperation were signed between the two countries.
Parallel to this commission, the head of the Iranian delegation held meetings with the high-ranking Pakistani authorities, and discussed and exchanged views on bilateral relations.
