Visit of the Deputy President of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Islamabad

H.E. Mr. Saeidlou, Iranian Deputy President for International Affairs, leading a high-ranking delegation comprising officials from the public and private sectors, visited Islamabad from February 6 to 7, 2012.

 

During this visit, he while meeting with the President, the Chairman of the Senate, and the Ministers for Commerce and Economic Affairs and Finance of Pakistan, attended a joint meeting of the Technical Committee of the two countries.

In this meeting, which was convened with the presence of the high-ranking authorities of the Ministries of Commerce, Petroleum, Energy, Transportation, Communications as well as the representatives of several public and private sector organizations of the two countries, matters pertaining to economic cooperation between the two countries such as export of gas and electricity  by the Islamic Republic of Iran to Pakistan, increase in transportation cooperation between the two countries in the spheres of road, railroad and air travel, bilateral cooperation in the fields of technology and agriculture, and also boosting commercial exchanges between the two sides upto US $5 Billion were discussed and views exchanged on them.

Also alongside these negotiations, the joint meeting of the private sector of the Islamic Republic of Iran was held with the Pakistani businessmen and traders hosted by the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce, as well as the Joint Chamber of Commerce of Pakistan and Iran.
