Speaking to IRNA, he said Iran has made its legitimate demand in a letter to International Atomic Energy Agency director general on June 2 for fuel Tehran reactor needs to produce radio isotope for medical treatment of patients suffering from cancer.
IAEA is obliged to carry out the task based on clauses 1 and 2 of its Charter; he said adding “We are ready to purchase our required fuel under supervision of IAEA in the same method that we had already purchased it from Argentina 30 years ago.”
This is another chance of IAEA to prove its goodwill, he said.
Referring to preliminary technical and constructive session during October 19-21 at IAEA headquarters in Vienna, he said “We are to declare our readiness for the next technical session in Vienna to express our concerns on safe delivery of the fuel.”
Tehran reactor is operating since 1970s. Iran bought one batch of 20 percent enriched uranium fuel in 1970s which was enough for the reactor's 30-year operation.
