Wednesday, April 27, 2011, a meeting on the subject "Ties between Iran and Pakistan in View of Developments in the Region and World" was held at the Institute of Political Studies, Islamabad.
In this meeting which was held with the participation of a nember of Pakistani dignitaries, experts and eminent persons, Mr. Khalid Rahman, Director of this Institute, while referring to the background of relations between the two counties, pointed to the existing potential for their expansion and also to the challenges and obstacles faced by them.
Later, H.E. Mr. Shakeri, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, began to deliver his speech with due reference to the regional developments. He, by emphasising security and economy as the two challenges faced by Pakistan, referred to the advantages, to be accrued in the event of resolution of the difficulties faced by Pakistan especially in energy, transportation and infrastructure sectors, through the channel of Iran, and stressed the important role of culture and media in boosting the relations between the nations and governments of the two countries.
Other speaker in the meeting, namely Khursheed Ahmad, Chairman of Institute of Policy Studies, and Tanvir Ahmad Khan, a former Pakistani Ambassador, presented their viewpoints.
A part of this meeting, too, was related to presentation of view points, and questions of the participants concerning different aspects of the bilateral relations and regional and global developments.
