With the efforts of the Cultural Consulate of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and with the cooperation of Pakistan's Ministry of Religious Affairs, the International Hajj Conference was held on September 27, 28, 2011 at Marriott Hotel of Islamabad.
The inaugural ceremony of this Conference was held with the presence of Hojjatoleslam Seyed Ali Qazi Asgar, Representative of the Religious Guardian in Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs, and Incharge of Iranian Hajj Pilgrims. Mr. Masha'allah Shakeri, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Pakistan, Shaukat Hayat Durrani, Secretary, Ministry of Religious Affairs, and Mahmoodullah Jan, Secretary, Parliamentary Affairs of that Ministry.
H.E. Mr. Shakeri, while welcoming the guests and the invitees to this Conference and referring to the efforts made by the Cultural Consulate and the Ministry of Religious Affairs for convening this important Conference, spoke about the philosophy of Hajj, and its role in uniting the Muslims, and also solidarity of unity, brotherhood and proximity among the Muslims and the avoidance of rifts.
Hojjatoleslam Qazi Asgar, too, while thanking the scholars and theologians for their presence in the ceremony, noted: "Hajj is an opportunity for sympathizing with the world Muslims. But the enemies of Islam are trying to create rifts among the Muslims". He elsewhere in his speech, pointed to the practical procedures pertaining to cooperation among Islamic countries. In conclusion of this ceremony, Mahmoodullah Jan, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, delivered a speech.
This Conference continued for two days. There were presented in its four sessions, 36 papers and speeches by noted personalities, theologians and scholars from the Islamic Republic of Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, China and Tajikistan.
Also the concluding ceremony of this Conference was held in the afternoon of September 28, 2011 with the presence of Dr.Firdaus Ashiq Awan, Pakistan's Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Hojjatoleslam Mahmoud Mohammadi Iraqi, Member, Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, Mr. Shaukat Hayat Durrani, Secretary, Ministry of Religious Affairs, and Mohammad Abdoh Ateen, Head of Motamar Alam Islami, Pakistan.
